Working with Lantern Company artists, participants explored project themes of ‘A place to call home’ to make their own 3-D lanterns which became a central part of the City of Light installation. The largest buildings in the floating city were handmade by the Lantern Company’s international team of artists, but – like any city – its character came from the diverse perspectives from participants across our communities who  built every imaginable dwelling from around the world. From huts to high-rises, cathedrals to igloos, mosques to incredible palaces! The lantern artworks became part of the huge-scale free public lantern festival  in Liverpool’s Sefton Park.

Ranging from a quick two-hour workshop to ambitious all-day projects, there were lantern-making workshops to suit everyone – all  skill levels  welcomed.Participants were able to spot their own  lanterns as part of the  enormous public artwork, and collected them after the event had taken place.
